Dr. Maurice Thornton
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator
I am a native Washingtonian who earned my Doctorate in Clinical Mental Health with a Specialization in Sport and Performance Psychology from University of Western States. I come to APS with over 12 years of experience in education with a commitment to creating a safe, empathetic, and culturally inclusive environment where clients feel heard and empowered. I believe in employing a strengths-based approach and works collaboratively with parents, students, staff, and the larger community to foster growth with all stakeholders to decrease inequity for our marginalized students. Outside of education, I enjoy nature, yoga, dancing and karaoke.
