Happy Friday DHMS!

Two Reminders:

Library Books are due now. Ms. Shanker will be at Rocky Run Park on Monday, June 7 from 12 – 2 PM to collect any materials that students need to return. (Especially Library Books!)
All Students will hold on to their iPads over the summer. Rising 9th graders will turn in their iPad at their high school and in exchange receive their MacBook Air. If your student is leaving APS permanently, please turn in the iPad, charger and cord, and case to the DHMS Main Office.

Testing Update:

Monday, June 7: Virtual 8th Graders – Math SOLs (test in person)
Tuesday – Friday, June 8-11 – Make Up Testing
Monday, June 14 – Virtual 8th Graders – Science SOL (test in person)

*If transportation is a problem (and your student rides the bus) let Mr. Tuttle know – we can help.NOTE: After students participate in the Driveway Celebration, all 8th graders are dismissed. We encourage families to celebrate the successes and hard work of your DHMS student in your own way. 8th graders are welcome (but not required) to attend school on Friday, June 18. School ends at 11:54 on Friday, June 18.

What: Virtual “Unveiling and Dedication Ceremony for the Stratford Commemorative Trail and Historic Panels” on the DHMS Driveway
When: Friday, June 11th, at 4:00 PM
Where: Livestreamed via MS Teams – Link to be sent on June 10thJoin virtually as we unveil the panels that tell of the desegregation of Arlington Public Schools. Meet some of the students who attended Stratford Jr. High (now Dorothy Hamm Middle School) and family members of our namesake, Dorothy M. Bigelow Hamm. On your own: walk the same path that the four students did – and explore ways to Take Action on your own or in our community.
