Statement of Support:
The Dorothy Hamm Middle School Student Services Department stands in complete solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and condemns racial injustice at DHMS and across the world. The deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and the many others before them, can be hard to understand. We are experiencing a time of civil unrest as a nation which can cause anxiety, fear, and sadness. To our students who personally identify as Black or African American, know that we see you, support you, and value you.
We work daily, now more than ever, to embody the mission of equity that our namesake, Dorothy Hamm, worked towards 60 years ago. To honor this legacy we look to the entire DHMS family to take this time to empower and uplift the Black community. We can begin and continue this work using the resources organized by the DHMS Library team here.
We seek to build hope for our future by prioritizing personal reflection, valuing the diverse voices of our school community, and standing as allies with our Black & African American students, families, and staff.
We know that with summer approaching things seem more uncertain. Please know that we are always here for you and will continue to focus on creating a welcoming, safe, supportive environment for ALL students. During the summer, use this website to access a variety of supports.
We are thinking of you,
DHMS Student Services Department
