Families who need access to WiFi might explore the following options:
- Comcast Internet Essentials will be offering free WiFi/Internet access in Arlington for new customers that qualify.
- Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country will be available to anyone who needs them for free—including non-Xfinity Internet subscribers. Click here for a map of Xfinity WiFi hotspots.
- Once at a hotspot, consumers should select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspot, and then launch a browser. Directions are here.
- Verizon offers Lifeline plans for home phone service or broadband (internet) service. The broadband discount is limited to Fios internet service at a speed of 18 megabits per second or above.
- Free Arlington County Wi-Fi hotspots are available in the parking lots at the Aurora Hills Library, Central Library, Columbia Pike Library, Charles Drew Community Center and Barcroft Sports & Fitness Center.
- Families identified as unable to acquire internet connectivity on their own may be provided a mobile hotspot by APS.

- 500 MB per day per Kajeet – this is about an hour of video
- Kajeets turn off at 10pm and turn back on at 6 am
- Works like a cell phone – if you have poor cell reception, you probably will have poor hotspot connection
- Kajeet must be plugged in to a power source to work.
