Electives

I am from McLean, Virginia and went to James Madison University for a Bachelor's in Music. I live in Arlington with my husband Zach and like to go see musicals and other arts performances when I'm not at school. I'm currently reading through the Sweet Magnolias book series and love re-watching Gilmore Girls and The Office.

I am an educator and artist living in Alexandria, Virginia with my husband and daughter. I grew up in a foreign service family and lived in many countries that shaped who I am today. I love anything art and travel related, vegan cooking, and getting outside to hike. I’m a registered yoga teacher and love to do gentle yoga practices and meditation…..I’ve also been known to binge watch my favorite tv shows.

I have taught in APS for over 12 years. In addition to working here at Dorothy Hamm, I am the Orchestra Director at Washington-Liberty High School. Prior to coming to Dorothy Hamm, I was the Orchestra Director at Williamsburg Middle School. I live in Maryland with my wife who teaches saxophone at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.  We have a daughter in college studying astrobiology and a 9th grade son (our house is run by three 6 month old kittens).  My musical taste pretty much covers the whole spectrum of possibilities and varies from day to day, although classical music holds a prominent position. In my free time (not much exists!) I like to golf and go on cruises.
